ask

We don’t want the city to sell any greenspace or parkland as we only get so much of it in established communities, once it’s gone, it’s gone for good since the city cannot buy it back at market value

-
We’d rather see the city “re-wild” the 5.6 acres of parkland, we can get U of C students from SAPL to design the reinvigorated parkland so residents can better use it. We have horticultural groups interested in creating gardens there, but we can also plant native species, so there’s no upkeep needed. We have volunteers in the community who want to be a part of this process.

-
We want an LAP for that area since the majority of Calgarian communities either have one or are in the process of one

-
We do not want redevelopment of the plaza that impacts the outlook of our Glenmore Reservoir Park, we believe a development like this would be excellent along Macleod Trail that needs revamping and can hold density while providing services like LRT stations and proper infrastructure without impacting our environment and parks/greenspaces.

-
We want the disposition of the parkland to have a public hearing where the public can speak at it

We are asking councillors to think of the precedent this sets that precious greenspace and parks don’t matter - does development come at the cost of everything else? We need to as a society learn from the mistakes of larger cities who are trying to remediate these issues and bring nature back into their cities and struggle to do so. This is a short-sighted proposal and our council needs to vote no.
