About

Protect our park

Glenmore Reservoir Parklands, a cherished gem among Calgary's green spaces, is at risk. We all know the vital role city parks play in fostering active lifestyles, enhancing mental health, promoting community engagement, and improving public health.

The prospect of Rio Can's proposed residential towers and "intensified" commercial development threatens the very essence of this park. Imagine the long-lasting impact of the 15-year construction process, with its pile drivers, backhoes, dump trucks, and cranes disrupting the serene beauty of the park, leading to congestion and overutilization once the development is complete. The looming towers will mar the park's aesthetics and tranquility. To safeguard Glenmore Reservoir Parklands for all Calgarians, we must firmly oppose Rio Can's Change in Land Use application.

We must insist on maintaining the current height restrictions and footprint for the Glenmore Landing strip mall to preserve the park's unique environment. Our parklands are our city's lasting legacy, and protecting them from urbanization encroachment is essential to building a great city.
